Team learning processes are typically assessed via quantitative survey methods, although a small number of studies quantify team learning through behavioral observation. A substantial number of team learning scales have been proposed in the literature, including adaptations of existing instruments. These measures are based on differing conceptualizations of team learning and thus capture a variety of processes and behaviors.
Characterizing team learning measurement¶
Because many team learning instruments share conceptual foundations, some overlap between scales is expected. At the same time, certain team learning processes may be underrepresented or neglected in existing measures. To identify both overlap and potential gaps in the measurement space, original and derivative instruments were compiled into a single corpus and then analyzed with natural language processing techniques.
Selected findings from this analysis are presented in this section.
